Acceptable use policy
This is a working draft prepared for review by qualified counsel. It is not legal advice and is not yet binding. Items in [SQUARE BRACKETS] are placeholders to be completed by REAT Global; notes marked “Counsel:” are decisions for review. See the placeholder register.

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) applies to everyone who uses Tractrix Cloud, its API, the cloud mode of the CAD add-ins, and the Tractrix websites. It forms part of the Cloud Terms. It does not restrict what you may do with free software under its licence: you may run, study, modify and share the OpenAirside engine and the Tractrix desktop products as the GPL allows.
1. Principles
Use the service lawfully, safely and in a way that respects other customers and the people affected by airport projects. Tractrix exists to make airside planning safer and more transparent; do not use it to make anyone less safe.
2. Unlawful and harmful use
You must not use the service to:
- break any law or regulation, or help anyone else do so;
- carry out or plan unlawful surveillance, tracking or profiling of people;
- plan attacks on, sabotage of, or unauthorised interference with airports, aircraft, air navigation services or other critical infrastructure;
- design or target weapons, or plan military operations or targeting, except where lawful, authorised by the competent government, and consistent with international humanitarian law and applicable export-control and sanctions law — and never for or on behalf of a sanctioned person or country;
- evade or help others evade sanctions, embargoes or export controls, including by giving access to persons in comprehensively sanctioned countries or listed persons, or by uploading export-controlled technical data without the necessary licence;
- infringe intellectual property or other rights, including by uploading drawings, survey data or manufacturer documents you have no right to use;
- upload malware, or content that is defamatory, harassing, fraudulent or otherwise unlawful.
3. Sensitive, classified and controlled data
- Do not upload information that is classified under national security rules, or that is subject to an aerodrome security programme, a non-disclosure obligation, or restrictions on geographic or infrastructure data (for example “important data” under Chinese law), unless you are authorised to store it with a cloud provider in [HOSTING REGION] under the Tractrix Cloud security measures.
- Do not upload special categories of personal data or data about children. Drawings should contain geometry, not personal data.
- If you are unsure whether data may be uploaded, use the desktop products with the local engine, which never send data to us.
4. Security of the service
You must not:
- probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the service, or breach or bypass authentication, authorisation or security measures, except as permitted by our vulnerability disclosure policy;
- access, or attempt to access, data of another organisation or user, or use another person's account or API token;
- share your password or API tokens, or let more people use one account (use seats and invitations instead);
- interfere with the service, for example by denial-of-service attacks, flooding, or submitting inputs designed to exhaust resources;
- introduce viruses, worms or other harmful code.
5. Fair use of resources
You must not:
- circumvent plan limits, rate limits, size limits or run quotas, for example by creating multiple free organisations or accounts for the same team;
- scrape, crawl or bulk-download the service or the websites by automated means other than the documented API, or use the service to build a competing dataset (the aircraft library data is published openly in the repository — use that instead);
- use the API in a way that places an unreasonable load on the service, or run automated jobs that are not reasonably related to your airport-planning work;
- resell, rent or provide the service to third parties as a hosted service without an agreement with us.
6. Reverse engineering
You must not decompile, disassemble or reverse-engineer the non-open-source parts of the hosted service (our server infrastructure, configuration and account systems), except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it despite this restriction. This does not apply to the OpenAirside engine, the Tractrix desktop products or any other component whose source code we publish under an open-source licence: you may study and modify those freely under their licences.
7. Engineering and operational use
You must not use Tractrix Cloud for real-time or operational purposes such as air traffic control, apron management or vehicle guidance, or rely on results without the verification described in the Engineering disclaimer. You must not present results as certified, approved or endorsed by REAT Global, a manufacturer or an authority.
8. Misrepresentation
You must not impersonate any person or organisation, misrepresent your affiliation, or use the Tractrix or OpenAirside names and logos except as allowed by the trademark policy.
9. Reporting abuse
Report suspected abuse of the service to [ABUSE CONTACT EMAIL], and security vulnerabilities as described on the security page. We review reports promptly and treat them confidentially.
10. Enforcement
If we reasonably believe this AUP has been breached, we may remove or disable the content concerned, revoke API tokens, or suspend or terminate accounts or organisations, as described in the Cloud Terms. We act proportionately, notify you where we can and give you an opportunity to respond, except where immediate action is needed to protect the service, other customers or the public, or to comply with law. We may report unlawful activity to the competent authorities.
11. Changes
We may update this AUP. Material changes are notified as for changes to the Cloud Terms.
